Yosemite National Park - Mirror Lake, Feb. 2006

One has to get pretty lucky to see Mirror Like this.

The lake is actually a meadow - flooded in Spring and dry during the summer. In spring, mirror images of Basket Dome and Halfdome are reflected from the lake.

When we first went there in February 2006, the lake was just about to fill up. But no matter weather it is a lake or a meadow, the 2-hour hike around it is always beautiful.<

We found this picture at Hamfist Gallery

The trail starts at the North Pines parking lot. Here is a little map of the area and a picture by Lance Davis.

After passing Tenaya Bridge, the trail follows the western side of Tenaya Creek.

Soon, the trail reaches the main attraction: Mirror Lake. Basket Dome (left) and the base of Halfdome dominate the scene.

Judy called this rock picture "our Guarding Angel"

The next mile leads first along the lake and then through the forrest.

After half an hour, we came to a little crossroad and ten minutes later we reached the bridge across Tenaya Creek.

The way back, along the eastern side of Tenaya Creek was a little bit more rugged than the way up . . .

. . . but there were miracles everywhere along the way.
